What to Recycle

Canadians create a lot of waste - over 1,000 kilograms per person each year. But did you know the majority of stuff we throw out isn't actually "waste"?

And that some materials are not even accepted by Metro Vancouver waste disposal facilities? A complete list of banned and restricted is available here

Here’s what Urban Impact can help you recycle:

Office
PAPER & WASTE

Each metric tonne (1000 kilograms) of paper that is recovered from landfill saves 17 trees from being cut down.

Bulk
PAPER

Urban Impact will pay you current market rates for your off-cuts and large amounts of scrap paper. We will receive your paper mixed – all the sorting and processing is done at our facility.

Mixed
CONTAINERS

Recyclable mixed containers include glass bottles and jars, metal cans and plastic bottles. Urban Impact will provide an appropriate collection system for the volume of generated at your location. We do the sorting for you – no mess, no fuss.

CARDBOARD

Cardboard makes up the largest percentage of any businesses recyclable materials. Next time you see Urban Impact's cardboard truck on the road - imagine 250 cubic yards of material all compressed inside its walls. That is enough cardboard till fill up a 900 square feet apartment - flattened.

Urban Impact will pick-up and pay for baled or compacted cardboard according to weight at current market rates.

Refundable
CONTAINERS

Refundable Beverage Containers are all those glass, plastic, aluminum, tin and tetra pak containers that hold ready-to-drink beverages. Urban Impact will provide all the equipment you require to collect and safely store your refundable containers. We will collect your containers, send them away for final processing, and issue you a cheque for the trouble!

 


PLASTICS

Urban Impact recycles many types of plastic materials. This includes soft plastics, such as shrink and bubble wrap used to wrap and protect products; plastic strapping used to strap goods onto pallets; and other unique, specialty plastics – just provide us with a sample of the material and we will assess whether they can be recycled.

Plastics can be clear or coloured, but must be clean of contaminants. Pick-up schedule and storage systems will be determined by the type and quantity of plastic waste generated.

Metal
STRAPPING
