I think the waste to energy concept is a good one. It seems to be working very well in Copenhagen and Paris. I was pleasantly suprised to hear that with better emission controls the air quality can actually be cleaner next to a waste energy plant than further away from one. As a long term goal for waste management I believe this is something we should definately look into here in the lower mainland. The expense of building one is a major concern. 500 million to a billion dollars with a net revenue of 10 million a year. At that rate it will be paid off in 50 years!! Not a great ROI …yet
