Urban Impact's Green Thoughts

Olympics transportation update

Posted on February 23rd, 2010 No comments

It is day 12 of the games – what a journey for us all!  Vancouver is showing off so well, and I think we are all so proud!

Road closures and restricted access to Olympics zones have turned out to be managable for our Operations Department.  We were certainly braced for the worst and it seems  that our plan of getting downtown every morning early has worked.    Drivers are leaving for the downtown core at about 4:00 AM and start servicing downtown clients from 5:00 AM onwards.    Our Operations Department refers to it as “full court press”.

Office recycling or shredding clients of course cannot be serviced at this hour, so instead of starting earlier Urban Impact is sending down two or three trucks (where we would usually send one) to provide services.  So far so good, any clients whose offices are open during the Olympics are getting their regular services.

The next time the Olympics to Vancouver we will be prepared!
