Eco Depot to get going August 3 @ Home Depot Coquitlam

Posted on July 29th, 2009 No comments

Very exciting news!  Metro Vancouver, Home Depot Coquitlam (on United Blvd), Urban Wood Waste Recyclers, Urban Impact Recycling (not related to Urban Wood Waste) are teaming up and bring you:  Eco Depot Pilot Project where residents can bring in their wood waste from their home construction projects.  Wood waste remains a large percentage of the mateirals still found going to our local landfills.  In fact it is estimated that 300,000 Metric Tonnes of wood waste is still going to landfill each year in the Lower Mainland.  That is staggering.  We need to make some progress on this issue and reduce the amount of wood going to the dump.  For any of you who don’t know, wood waste largely gets chipped into smaller bits and used for primarly two things: one it gets used for landfill cover and two, it gets used as fuel (green fuel) for large consumers such as cement plants, pulp mills and other such facililites.

Progress report coming, promise, once the Pilot Project is underway.
