September 19 VanCity & Urban Impact Shredathon in Chilliwack

Posted on September 19th, 2009 No comments

VanCity and Urban Shredding (division of Urban Impact) are proud to be providing a Shredathon for local residents of the Fraser Valley region.  The Shredathon is at the VanCity Chilliwack from 10 AM to 2 PM on Saturday September 19, 2009.  Residents and small businesses can bring their confidential materials have them shredded right before their eyes.  In addition the new Hybrid Recycling truck is there as well to receive an extra boxes that people might have when dropping off their shredding.  The Hybrid truck runs on its own battery that is charged while the motor is running.    So when it is on site the engine won’t be running.

All participants are asked to donate $10 per box (if they want to) to the VanCity charity of choice.   Last year we raised $800 or so at the last Shredathon in Chilliwack, we are hoping to beat it today!

Week of Oct 19 (Recycling Week) will be School Tour week for Urban Impact Plants

Urban Impact is happy to announce that we will be conducting school tours the week of October 19, 2009 which is also Recycling Week in Canada (funny how we planned that?!).

Nicole Stefenelli, found and President of Urban Impact will be conducting two tours each day that week.   The ideal age for school tours seems to be Grade 5’s.  We completed 12 tours in the Spring of 2009 and found that this age group was the most engaged, asked the best questions and had an excellent understanding of what Urban Impact does.  Younger classes certainly gain knowledge from the tours, but it seems that their level of underestanding is not as complete.
