On Saturday May 13, 2007 Urban Impact launched "Plant One Here"
With the help of over 50 volunteers, 480 tree "whips+ were planted in Boundary Beach , BC as part of Urban Impact's “Plant One Here” program. Urban Impact has partnered with the Corporation of Delta in this exciting program. Urban Impact is providing the money and the Corporation of Delta is providing the land on which these trees are planted. On Saturday May 13, 2007 we successfully planted a ½ hectre site with 26 different tree types. The site promises not only to help Urban Impact with off setting its carbon footprint, but also to green the community we live and work in.
Urban Impact is working towards becoming carbon neutral, planting trees will help off set our carbon footprint. Urban Impact is also working on other iniativies to reduce our carbon footprint for example scheduling our trucks for longer shifts, running the newest fleet in the industry, encouraging our staff to use transit, bicycle or car pooling when traveling to and from work. Plans are underway to plant an additional 300 trees in the fall of 2007. Stay tuned for more information on future plans for planting.
Here are some photos that show the journey in getting the trees into the ground.
